Definition and conceptual scope of industrial relations as a subject of scientific research. Origin and evolution of industrial relations in a historical perspective, including factors determining collective relations in employee relations. The structure and characteristics of representative organizations bringing together employers and employees in contemporary Poland

To enlighten the students with the basic problems of industrial relations, its evolution and current state in the context of new institutionalism, the concept of diversity of capitalism and the theory of punctuated equilibrium. Explaining the importance of social partnership in shaping industrial relations from an international and Polish perspective. The role and importance of the state as a regulator of contemporary industrial relations in Poland. During the lectures, special emphasis will be placed on explaining the cultural aspects of industrial relations.

After completing the course, students:

- know and understand the basic concepts of industrial relations (IR);

- know the origins of IR institutions and their evolution;

- know the origins of trade unions, the evolution of their structure in the context of the evolution of the market economy and contemporary varieties of capitalism;

- know the organizations of social partners representing the side of labor and the side of capital in Poland and selected countries;

- know the positive and negative effects of state intervention in the IR area;

- know the main orientations of the economic mentality of the working class in the context of IR

K_W01 - the student knows and understands the specificity of political and administrative sciences compared to other sciences and the place of labor sciences within the social sciences.

K_W05 - the student knows and understands in practice the tools for obtaining data on social bonds, norms and rules created in the context of work, as well as the institutions, structures and organizations created by them.

K_U01 - the student is able to use for practical purposes knowledge in the field of labor sciences to analyze and interpret social processes and phenomena occurring in the area of work and the labor market.

K_U02 - the student is able to use the acquired knowledge in the field of labor sciences to indicate the causes of the occurrence and course of social processes and phenomena taking place in the area of work and on the labor market.

K_U03 - the student is able to use knowledge and analytical tools to forecast the practical consequences of changes taking place in the field of work, including the selection and use of advanced information and communication techniques.

K_W08 - the student knows and understands the basic concepts and principles of industrial property and copyright protection.

More than 2 absences must be made up by the student to the teacher on duty within two weeks after the lectures from which he/she was absent. In case of absence from more than 4 classes, the student will not be classified in the course.
