Outline of seminars (subject to changes): development economics – a primer; characteristics of underdevelopment; measuring growth and development; poverty and inequality; theories of economic growth and development; population growth and economic development; rle of state in development; agriculture, industry, trade and development. |

Learning outcomes: |
On completion of the unit students should be able to: Understand and apply the main theories and models of economic development, and link them with a real-world cases; Understand the role of institutions in the process of economic development; Search, access and examine the main sources of economic and social data relevant to economic development. |
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
1. Final test – 50 % of the final grade (50 points, examination to be held during the final meeting) 2. E-learning platform tasks (kampus platform) – 40% of the final grade (2 x 20 points); 3. Coursework: active participation in seminars – 10% of the final grade (10 points), 1 absence allowed. In order to complete the module students need to obtain a passing grade (more than 55% of the points) from all components of the assessment. |
