Short description: |
The course is divided into four main blocks. The first one analyses the notion of regionalism, presents Europe as a region in international relations and tries to put in light its main features. The second one focuses the European Union – its origins, institutions, policies. The third one concentrates on other European organizations, such as NATO, the Council of Europe, OSCE and so on. The last one presents the subregional cooperation in Europe. The realization of this program will require from the students about 50 hours of work, both in class and at home. |

Learning outcomes: |
After this course, the student knows and understands - well international relations as part of the discipline of political science and administration; - threats and challenges typical of contemporary international relations and international security; - contemporary European processes, functioning of European institutions, role, strengths and weaknesses of main European structures. Can: - apply various techniques, including information and communication techniques in order to pose advanced problems, questions and research hypotheses; - search for innovative solutions to the research problems posed; interpret and analyze European politics. He is ready to: - prepare research and practical social projects related to the area of international relations, using the knowledge acquired during studies and being able to supplement it, as well as effectively cooperating with other people, including acquiring knowledge from experts; - correctly identify and resolve dilemmas related to work in public administration, international business, international institutions (including intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations), respecting professional ethics. |

First attempt (during the last class): test (20 multiple-choice questions) Second attempt (during the exam session): oral exam. |
