ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 2.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Topics covered in the module include: Definition of the financial system, elements of the financial system Classification of financial markets. The gold currency standard. The Bretton Woods system. Global financial governance and the modern financial system. The contemporary monetary system. Challenges facing the system and prospects for reform of international financial institutions. International currencies and the foreign exchange market. Financial crises. The political economy of sovereign debt.

basic mechanisms of exchange rate policy and the significance of the balance of payments in the financial relations of a country with

2 has a structured knowledge of the history and contemporary functioning of the international financial system

3 knows the importance of commercial banks in international financial relations, has knowledge of the settlement and financing of

foreign trade

4 has knowledge of the coordination of monetary and financial policy on an international scale, the cooperation of central banks, the mechanisms and

principles of monetary integration of the European Union, the role and significance of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group

1 analyzes phenomena on international financial markets

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

1. lecture attendance and quizzes on the classroom platform - 40 % of the final mark;
