ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 2.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

The student has knowledge of the importance of the economy for state security and the importance of economic instruments in the foreign policy of a state.

1. Security in theories of international relations - economic issues (understanding of security by various theories of international relations, historical evolution of the concept of security, increasing importance of the economic factor in the security policy of great powers)

2. Economic security - the concept; the development of the concept of economic security in international relations. The importance of economic security in the great powers politics.

3. Globalization and economic security - the impact of globalization on the economic security of states. Influence of increased attachments of international national economies on economic security.

4. Economic nationalism - evolution and meaning

5. State capitalism - evolution of the capitalist system in selected countries. The importance of state property for the economic security of the state

6. Geoeconomics - the importance of economic instruments in the national strategy of states. Classification and methods of application.

7. Threats to the economic security of states - energy issues. History and evolution of the importance of energy security in the strategy of states. Global aspects and specific to European countries.

8. Threats to the economic security of states - financial issues. The importance of financial aspects for the economic security of states

9. Threats to the economic security of states - food and food security

10. Safety of sea routes - history, importance, evolution. Security of sea lanes of communication as a public good.
