The content of the course and examination covers the following topics: 1. Definition of social work and its mission. 2. Historical roots and development of social work as a profession 3. Methods of social work. 4 .Social work values and ethics 5. Social system theory and its contribution to social work 6. Generalist social work practice. 7. Problem-solving in social work. 8. Knowledge, skills and values as an equipment of professional social workers. 9. Areas of social work practice in a contemporary society. 10. Social work in a local community
Full description:	Aims: The purpose of his course is to introduce students to social work through an exploration of the history, philosophical foundation, and theoretical perspectives of social work. Learning outcomes:	Through active participation in this course the students will be able to: -understand the philosophical, historical, knowledge and values bases of social work -understand the basic concept of social work and social work theory and their application for working with individuals, families, groups and communities.
Assessment methods and assessment criteria:	(in Polish) Zajęcia kończą się sprawdzianem w formie pisemnego kolokwium, którego zaliczenie jest warunkiem dopuszczenia do egzaminu modułowego.
