  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Podczas zajęć student pozna sposoby ujmowania i definiowania kompetencji kluczowych przez różne podmioty i instytucje (OECD; UE), które zajmują się tą tematyką.

Full description:

The aim of lecture is to show students the issues of Key competences. The student will learn the ways of recognizing and defining key competences by various entities and institutions (OECD; EU) as well as EU and national projects aimed at supporting the development of key competences in the individual and social dimension.

Main topics:

• sources and transformations of key competences;

• 8 key competences according to the EU (communication in the mother tongue, communication in foreign languages, mathematical competence and basic competences in science and technology; IT competences; learning skills; social and civic competences; entrepreneurship; cultural awareness and expression;

• social skills;

• contemporary understanding of basic skills;

• selected national programs supporting the development of key competences (including: Portugal, Italy, France, Great Britain, the Irish Republic);

• EU projects and programs.

• Good practices from the NGO sector.

Learning outcomes:

Knowledge:

student:

-knows what key competences are;

-knows solutions functioning at the EU and national level, aimed at supporting the development of key competences;

-distinguishes between key competencies, social skills and basic skills.

Skills:

student

- is ready to recall the different definitions of key competences and analyze the differences between them;

- can discuss eight key competences (EU definition);

- can analyze the solutions that support the development of key competences and demonstrate their strengths and weaknesses, as well as verify the possibility of introducing them in other countries (including Poland).

Social competence:

student

- appreciates the need to develop key competences;

- understands the need to support people with low basic skills in their development.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Attendance (two unexcused absences allowed) and final test (multiple choices).
