  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;

Short description:

The aim of this module is to familiarize students with various aspects and determinants of marginalization and social exclusion of numerous social groups (ethnic and cultural minorities, people with disabilities etc.) - on the local and global level. Students will also discuss the opportunities to limit these processes and to help people affected by them.

Full description:

The module consists of 4 courses:

- Global and development education.

- Introduction to social work.

- Determinants of education and development of children with disabilities.

- Introduction to the psychopedagogical diagnosis.

Learning outcomes:

By the end of the module students will be able to:

knowledge

- demonstrate the extended knowledge in the field of social science, culture and education,

- demonstrate the extended knowledge in the field of integrated and inclusive education,

- describe characteristics of social sciences and their links with other academic disciplines,

- describe and illustrate typical structures and institutions (educational, cultural, political) supporting people with disabilities and socially excluded,

- use the extended knowledge about methods, tools and techniques of psychopedagogical diagnosis to prepare a project of intervention,

- critically analyze various theories and stances concerning rehabilitation, education and support of people with disabilities and socially excluded,

- generalize the rules for the establishment and organization of the educational, therapeutic, supporting institutions

skills

- use theoretical knowledge in the field of special education, social pedagogy and other social sciences in order to analyze complex issues of education, empowerment and support for people with disabilities and socially excluded

- formulate own opinions and critically select data and methods of analysis

- anticipate consequences of the process of education, rehabilitation, therapy and empowerment for people with disabilities and socially excluded

- use appropriate tools for the diagnosis and evaluation of these processes

- use the system of international classification of functioning, disability and health as well as norms and rules of the education system in order to design appropriate pedagogical interventions

- prepare written work, essays, dissertations and research projects using appropriate theories, terminology and literature

competencies

- feel responsible for their work's consequences and results

- identify and solve the dilemmas related to help and support for people with disabilities and socially excluded (on the local and global level)

- take part in projects' preparation and implementation

- search for and obtain the necessary information and appreciate the self-study process
