Short description:

The main aim of the course is to introduce students to the idea of inclusive education of disabled children and young people, with formal legal regulations and the conditions associated with this process. Moreover, students will learn about scientific procedures which will enable them to learn more about the issues relating to education of the disabled in the non-selective institutions, and to monitor the educational process.

Full description:

The following focus areas may be discussed within the course:

- the aim and nature of social inclusion, and the different models and forms it takes in the educational system;

- conditions and limitations of social inclusion

- educational law in relation to inclusive education;

- Educational and rehabilitation functions within inclusive forms of education-

- competences of an inclusive education teacher

- organisation within the classroom and of the integrated group

- educators’ role and the coordinative role of the specialists

- different methods applied in inclusive education

After completing the course:

- students know formal and legal regulations associated with the education of the disabled (legal footings, curriculum)

- Students know the conditions for effectiveness in the education of different groups of disabled people in certain types of educational institutions

- Students understand the validity of the inclusive education of disabled people

- Students are aware of the relativity of the processes of social inclusion
