Prerequisites (description): | Students who have taken specialty "School educator. Vocational counselor in school system", joining the course of Educational and Vocational Counseling in the Educational System knows the organization, structure and functions of the educational system in Poland; the organization and provision of psychological and educational assistance; range of tasks, responsibilities and school counselor permissions and duties. |
Short description: |
During the course "Educational and Vocational Counseling in the Educational System" student will arrange knowledge on teaching and educational issues related to the work of the school counselor in conjunction with knowledge on professions and employment, will know the content related to vocational transition, counseling and guidance. Gain knowledge about the objectives, content and training programs, the training process, ways, methods and means in vocational education and training effectiveness conditions. Gain an enhanced understanding of the possible paths of the education of young people. |

The course "Educational and vocational counseling in the educational system" includes the following topics: 1. Organizational and legal conditions of the school of education and professional counseling. 2. Structure and vocational guidance centers in Poland. 3. Classification of professions; descriptions, qualifications for practicing the profession, the path of obtaining professional qualifications. 4. The labor market, employment forms, sourcing and selection of staff by employers. 5. Paths to obtain professional qualifications. 6. Sources of information about the local labor market, national globally. 7. Policy advisory practice of professional education, professional development and preferences of school 8. Career planning - Educational and occupational aspirations of young people, sources and changes in aspirations, knowledge of young people on the labor market, employment, education and professional development - Internal factors of career planning and professional education: physical and personal abilities, knowledge, and shaped interest, age, maturity and stage of social development - External factors of career planning and professional education. The labor market. The role of social environments in building student perceptions of their own social and professional development - parents, family, peers, the media. 9. Conditions and working styles of counselor, support models. The objectives of vocational guidance. 10. Labor market problems: unemployment, exclusion, attitudes toward work, employment and employers, the special conditions of employment, self-employment, labor market pathologies. |

Learning outcomes: |
The student will: - know the legal basis for the functioning of psychological and educational assistance in schools and other educational institutions, - have extensive knowledge of the educational pathways of young people, of the system dedicated to vocational development, - have knowledge of the scope and principles of educational assistance and psychological counseling in the area of education for gining profession and occupation - have knowledge of diagnostic methods, with particular emphasis on diagnostic factors in the vocational development - be able to apply different theoretical approaches for diagnosing, analyzing and solving the teaching and educational problems and to project the paths of educational and vocational development - be aware the importance of behavior in a professional manner and respect the rules of professional ethics and respect for multiculturalism - understand the needs and will know the opportunities for lifelong learning and improving skills and builds the path of personal and professional development |
