Prerequisites (description): | The aim of this course is to deepen students' knowledge about the methodological foundations of educational research, as well as the possibility of using methods of activating the education of children in preschool and early school age. This knowledge and practical experience gained will be used to construct a research project, and then collecting empirical material and its elaboration in the written thesis by students. |

As part of preparing their own research projects, students will deepen understanding of the methodological foundations of educational research (determination of the theoretical and practical research objectives, formulate problems, methods and techniques for collecting empirical material, the principles of designing research tools, random and purposeful sampling, planning the test procedures, methods analyzing and interpreting data) and the methods and forms of education for children in preschool and early school based on the assumptions of constructivism. |

As part of preparing their own research projects, students will deepen understanding of the methodological foundations of educational research (determination of the theoretical and practical research objectives, formulate problems, methods and techniques for collecting empirical material, the principles of designing research tools, random and purposeful sampling, planning the test procedures, methods analyzing and interpreting data). Proposed topics of bachelor thesis: Selected pedagogical aspects of role-play in the process of learning about the group and shaping some positive personal relationships within a group. Methods of shaping the communication competence among pupils in kindergarten and school. Pupils activation processes within the literature education programme. Educational games and plays in the process of shaping numeracy concepts and improvising numeracy techniques. Project methods in the process of shaping nature concepts and pro-ecology attitudes. Development of creative skills in pupils. Drama in kindergarten and school. Theatrical education in educational institutions. Work items can be arranged individually. |

Learning outcomes: |
Student: deepens theoretical knowledge of the chosen topic, knows the basics of research methodology the necessary information, evaluate it in the context of their own practical experience, sets out the theoretical and practical goals of personal research, formulates the problems adequately to the selected type of research (exploration or verification), deliberately chooses methods and techniques of collecting empirical material, develops research tools, plans to test procedure, determines ways to develop, analyze and interpret data, draws theoretical and practical conclusions from the research, critically evaluates the test procedure, creates a reliable research report, observes moral principles and intellectual property in research. |
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
Credit conditions: - attendance at group classes (two absences possible) and participation in individual consultations - submission of a BA thesis Is evaluated: student autonomy in improving knowledge - finding the necessary sources of knowledge, in collecting and systematizing them, the ability to practical use the knowledge gained to develop a research project, systematic work on the theoretical basis of their research and planning, conducting and analyzing the data collected. |
