This class aims at preparing students to write their undergraduate thesis to obtain the bachelor’s degree. Topics discussed during the seminar focus on the interactions between economics and politics, both from micro and macro perspective. Students will make themselves acquainted with a broad spectrum of issues related to the interaction between economic sphere and political sphere; they will be exposed to different methodological approaches that are used to study this research area, as well as different methods to measure the impact of economic and political institutions. During the seminar students will be asked to discuss several journal articles, present their views on what they read as well as present parts of their theses. The seminar is taught in Polish. However, since the majority of articles discussed are written in English, students should read in English fluently. In the winter semester students choose the topics for their theses and are evaluated based on the work they present during classes. In the second semester, students are evaluated based on the progress in their theses. The seminar is designed for students at their 3rd year of studies.
