ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 14.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:

The aim of the course is to prepare a bachelor's thesis by students. The seminar enables the practical use of knowledge learned in MS Excel and VBA classes. The main part of the work will be designing, creating and implementing a business application in this environment.

Full description:

The aim of the course is to prepare a bachelor's thesis by students. The seminar enables the practical use of knowledge learned in MS Excel and VBA classes. The main part of the work will be designing, creating and implementing a business application in this environment.

The subject of the work may also concern to the verification of microeconomic theories, in particular the applications of the theory models and their verification with experimental methods.

The seminar enables practical use of knowledge learned in Excel and VBA classes, microeconomics, game theory, market organization, or experimental economics.

Completion of the first semesters is based on the progress in writing the thesis, among others project work, and the presentation of the results obtained. Completion of the last semester, in accordance with the applicable rules of the University of Warsaw, takes place based on the submission of the diploma thesis at the dean's office.

Note: students who are considering participate at the seminar are required to meet the teacher earlier. The meeting will explain the principles of writing a job, the possible subject matter of the work, and the initial area of interest of students in order to determine the choice of credits that are useful to write a thesis.

Ability to write works; knowledge of theoretical concepts and research methods described in the work; the ability to critically analyze economic articles; ability to create business applications using MS Excel and VBA programming language.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Participants are required to present at least once per semester progress in writing a seminar paper.
