Seminar is intended for graduate students. The aim of the seminar is to help in writing master's thesis in the subject of empirical economics. The classes will discuss proposals and results of research conducted by students. The seminar will start with looking for the subject of the master's thesis. Students are expected to begin with the review of the literature in the search for topics and research methods of interest to them. Then students present their research proposals and the databases they want to use. The process ends with my approval of the topic. Until the end of the first semester of the seminar, I expect students to write a review of the literature and a description of the database. Two subsequent semesters are devoted to writing a thesis. Partial results of the conducted research are presented during the master's seminar. At the end of the second semester students are expected to submit the outline of the MA thesis, main research questions, the outlines of all chapters and preliminary empirical results. In the first semester, regular meetings will take place each week or every two weeks, dependently on the number of students. In the second and third semester, also regular individual meetings are foreseen. |
