ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 23.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:

The goal of this seminar is to equipped students with skills needed for preparation of master’s thesis. During this seminar students will be instructed how to find the subject of dissertation and how to work on such problem following methodological and formal requirements.

Full description:

The main task of this seminar is to deliver theoretical and practical background necessary for the goodwill and efficiency management in financial institutions and enterprises. Participants are expected to acquire knowledge of methodology of scientific studies in this area and to develop methods suited for own research program in this field.

Bibliography:

Literature is selected individually - accordingly to the scope of dissertation.

Learning outcomes:

Student knows how to formulate goals of dissertation and to construct and verify hypothesis. He has knowledge of the process of data collection and best techniques for analyzing such information. Student knows how to decompose main task of dissertation into simpler subtasks.

Student knows how to report in written form results of these investigations and how to meet formal requirements of such work. Student is familiar with methodology of economic analysis and methods of hypothesis verification in that field. He knows how to construct questionnaires and similar tolls. Student is prepared for critical discussion of results of his work.

Student understands the necessity of permanent learning and knowledge and skills mastering. Student appreciates benefits of collective research and collaboration. Student knows how to organize his work and how to be on time. Student is able to implement theoretical knowledge in practice, esp. he knows how to transform these skills into entrepreneurial spirit.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Active participation in classes and preparation of provisional subject of master’s thesis are required for earning first semester credits. The next semester will be passed if the summary of dissertation is agreed. Additionally completed master’s thesis are expected to be final result of this seminar.
