Short description:

This course is aimed at giving the participants a comprehensive

understanding of humanistic and existential approach in psychotherapy

with special consideration to Gestalt Therapy as a leading school.

Learning outcomes:

After completing this course students should be able to:

− Characterize core assumptions and concepts of humanistic and

existential psychotherapy;

− Describe specificity of diagnosis and interventions typical for ;

− Recognize a ways of humanistic/existential work in specific clinical

and life contexts;

− Evaluate presented therapy models in terms of their strengths and

limitations.

Full description:

During the course we will discuss the following issues: Fundamentals and

Development of Humanistic/Existential Psychotherapy, Phenomenological

and Aesthetic Diagnosis, Experiments and Eechniques, Therapeutic work

in specific life situations and clinic sufferings, Existential approach to

Couples and Groups.

The seminar includes a variety of active learning methods and requires

participants’ interest in the topic, independent reading, and openness to

discuss. Theoretical knowledge regarding main schools of

humanistic/existential approach will be accompanied by practical

exercises, integrated with self-reflection. We will analyze short video

examples from therapeutic sessions and case studies.
