The first part of the course will introduce to basic principles of research in the fields of clinical psychology and psychotherapy. We will discuss the meaning of “evidence based” and its relations to clinical practice. We will cover typical challenges related to measurement of clinical constructs and their possible variability in time (due to treatment interventions and other factors). Next, we will discuss research designs and methods adequate for explorative or confirmatory clinical studies. The second part of the course will focus on specific issues in psychopathology and psychotherapy research. We will discuss methodological advances and important results for bridging the gap between research and practice in clinical psychology. Finally, we focus on ethical aspects, good research practices, social responsibility and open science perspective. |
