Full description:

The lectures include discussion of:

- key issues regarding how to assess the physical, motor and sexual development of children and adolescents

- the most common disorders and diseases occurring from the fetal period to somatic maturity

The aim is to draw students' attention to the importance of physical, motor and sexual development in the mental and social formation of an individual.

The lectures enable students to learn about the proper course of physical development as well as the most common disorders occurring in the developmental age population, including: with growth deficiency, obesity, sexual development disorders. Issues concerning the population of chronically ill people are highlighted, especially those suffering from early childhood (child sick from birth, type 1 diabetes). The most important groups of developmental disorders will be presented separately, such as growth and nutritional disorders (including the fetal hypothesis of civilization diseases, fetal programming, thrifty pheno-type, developmental origins of health and disease) and disorders of gender differentiation (formerly called body and sex), taking into account the issue of a newborn with abnormal external genital organs.

The organization of medical care for children and adolescents, prenatal and screening tests, the vaccination system, the situation and rights of hospitalized children, indications and contraindications to various forms of physical activity (counteracting lifestyle diseases: hypertension, metabolic syndrome) will be discussed separately.
