  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Prerequisites (description):

The course is obligatory for students of the "Educational Psychology" specialisation. It prepares for work in educational centers (kindergarten, primary school, secondary school, high school) as school psychologist who works with a student individually. The course covers diagnosis of reasons of problems, and a scheleton of therapy.

Short description:

That course gives possibility to exercise practical competence in diagnosis and first therapeutic steps in cases of children who need psychological treatment. Children (of different age) are recommended by school psychologists working at: preschool, primary school, secondary school or collage. Students are expected to conduct an interview with a child and his/her mother, to use selected projective diagnostic tools, to plan the treatment and to carry out the first step of it. Furthermore, students should acquire knowledge of therapeutic schools on their own (to pass a colloquium), and show their competences in interpretation (short essays prepared each week). The second semester is a continuation of the first semester.

Learning outcomes:

The two-semester course ("Basics of educational counselling part I" and "Basics of educational counselling part II") prepares to diagnose and grant psychological help to children with individual behaviour and family problems, from the perspective of educational centre psychologist. Having completed the course the student will be able to apply diagnostical tools, interpret their results, plan therapies, implement them, and provide a continuation of the treatment. Moreover, the student will have the basic knowledge of majoir psychotherapeutic schools and technics of psychotherapy.
