Short description: |
Environmental psychology is an interdisciplinary research area that deals with the relationships between people on one hand and the physical environment, on the other. Following topics will be discussed during the course: (1) environmental perception and cognitive maps, (2) environmental aesthetics, (3) territorial behaviors and privacy regulation in people, (4) elements of urban psychology - how urban environment and its transformations influence people's behavior, (5) planning home and institutional environments (residential environments, work environments, learning environments, hospitals and prisons etc.), (6) people's relations with places: place attachment and place identity. |

Lecture 1. Environmental psychology as an interdisciplinary research area. Why study environmental psychology? History of environmental research. What is specific for environmental psychology? Key figures in environmental psychology Lecture 2. Environmental perception. Theories of Brunswik and Gibson. Way finding and way losing. Spatial cognition. Cognitive maps and their measurement. Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
(in Polish) Ocena składa się z dwóch części: (1) praca domowa (analiza wybranego problemu środowiskowego, ilustrowanego własnymi zdjęciami, oraz propozycja jego rozwiązania, (2) wynik pracy pisemnej (w połowie zamknięte, w połowie otwarte pytania) na zakończenie kursu. Ostateczna ocena jest średnią z obu ocen. |
