ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 2.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:

The aim of the course is to develop the student's research skills by equipping him with the tools necessary to conduct work in the field of investment banking. As part of the course, students perform analytical work using data available in financial databases.

After completing the course (lecture and classes), the student:

Knows and understands:

• S2_W01 - advanced terminology regarding the management of financial institutions (especially banks in the area of retail and corporate banking) in the discipline of economics and finance and in complementary disciplines (management and quality sciences, legal sciences). (K_W01)

• S2_W02 - advanced principles, procedures and practices regarding the management of financial institutions (in particular banks in the area of retail and corporate banking) (K_W02)

• S2_W03 - advanced economic theories and models relating to the management of financial institutions (especially banks in the area of retail and corporate banking) (K_W03)

• S2_W05 - advanced technological, social, political, legal, economic and ecological processes and phenomena and their impact on the management of financial institutions (in particular banks in the area of retail and corporate banking) (K_W05)

Can:

• S2_U01 - use the theory of the discipline of economics and finance and in complementary disciplines (management and quality sciences, legal sciences) to recognize, diagnose and solve problems related to the management of financial institutions (in particular banks in the area of retail and corporate banking), using the appropriate selection sources and adapting existing methods (K_U01)

• S2_U02 - correctly interpret technological, social, political, legal, economic and ecological processes and phenomena and their impact on the management of financial institutions (especially banks in the area of retail and corporate banking), using the appropriate selection of sources (K_U02)

• S2_U03 - independently and collectively prepare analyses, diagnoses and reports regarding the management of financial institutions (especially banks in the area of retail and corporate banking) and present them communicatively, also in English - using IT and communication tools (K_U03)

• S2_U04 - plan and organize your own and team work (K_U05)

• S2_U05 - has the ability to self-educate and improve acquired qualifications (K_U06)

Is ready to:

• S2_K01- assessment and critical approach to situations and phenomena related to the management of financial institutions (in particular banks in the area of retail and corporate banking) (K_K01)

• S2_K02 - compliance with professional ethical standards in the management of financial institutions (in particular banks in the area of retail and corporate banking) (K_K03)

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Ongoing assessment (current preparation for classes and activity), mid-semester written tests in the form of tests (open questions, closed single- and multiple-choice questions) and oral answers, attendance control, group work during classes. A necessary condition for passing the exam is submitting the work done in groups and passing it.

Learning outcomes will be verified on an ongoing basis through tasks performed by participants and finally during the seminar.
