Lecture The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the basic concepts, categories and models of macroeconomic factors influencing the conduct of international activity. After a preliminary analysis of long-term phenomena such as globalization, integration (including currency) and social and economic transformation, the factors and processes influencing trade, financial and investment flows will be discussed more closely. 1. Sources and consequences of globalization 1.1. Globalization as a megatrend 1.2. Regional integration as an antidote to the negative consequences of globalization? 1.3. Currency integration - cases and challenges 1.4. Crisis, their sources and transmission mechanisms 2. Global flows of production factors 2.1. Comparative advantages and competitive advantages 2.2. Global Trade flows 2.3. Global FDI flows 3. Global capital flows 3.1. Determinants of capital flows 3.2. Exchange rate risk 3.3. The role of international money and its functions in trade invoicing 4. 4. Global value and supply chains 4.1. Value chain - micro, meso, macro 4.2. The role of individual groups of countries in the value chain 4.3. The value chain and the middle income trap Classes Exercises part I will be devoted to issues introducing the subject of foreign trade and will include: 1. Foreign trade brokers - types of intermediaries, taking into account the division into self-employed and non-self-employed, and on their own and someone else's behalf - the role and tasks of intermediaries, - arranging the relationship between the client and the agent - advantages and disadvantages of using intermediaries. 2. Customs and trade - the role and importance of commercial practices, - mandatory law, contractual provisions, customs, standards of relatively applicable law, - commercial agreements relating to the terms of delivery of goods, with particular emphasis on the Incoterms 2020 rules, - settlements related to the settlement of international transactions. 3. Documents used in trade, - transportation documents, - insurance documents, - supplementary and supporting documents. 4. Settlements and methods of financing commercial transactions - risk of non-payment / return of the advance payment, - ways to eliminate or reduce the risk of non-payment, - conditional and unconditional forms of payment (transfers / direct debits, check, collection, letter of credit, standby letter of credit), - promissory notes as instruments for securing a trade credit, - bank guarantees and transaction insurance, - export pre-financing, factoring, forfaiting 5. Preparation of the offer and contract - offer in international trade in the light of the Vienna Convention on the International Sale of Goods, - offer construction, - essential clauses and supplementary clauses in the contract. Part II Lecture The course will familiarize students with key concepts and theories explainig the behaviour of firms in foreign markets, and choices faced by managers in intercultural environment. 1. Foreign language in IB Workshops Workshop (part II) allows participants to practice the use of theoretical concepts in solving managerial dilemmas. |

Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
The 15-hour lecture ends with a test on the Kampus platform and the assessment in the subject "International Business. Part I - macroeconomic approach ”constitutes 50% of the final grade (the remaining 50% is International Business. Part II - the managerial approach). The same applies to classes. Components of the final mark (classes) 1. Test at the last class (ending part I), it will be possible to obtain 60 points. 2. Points for activity / completed tasks (optional), it will be possible to get 20 points. 3. Preparation of the offer and contract (group work 4-5 people): 10 points - offer, 10 points - contract |
