ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 2.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:

Security rules in cultural heritage institutions (museums, libraries, archives, historic buildings, cultural institutions).

Full description:

Procedures to follow in cultural heritage institutions in case of many threats (rules of law, safety protocols, rules for the evacuation of people and collections). Rules of action amid crisis scenarios.

As part of the course modules, the following will be discussed:

• Rules of law

• Planning documents

• Action procedures

• Institution’s functioning in a crisis situation

• Staff training

• Exercise

• Practical advise

Learning outcomes:

After completing the course, student has knowledge about the scope of existing threats in cultural heritage institutions, knows basic terms and concepts used in the protection of museum, library, archives institutions and other cultural heritage objects, is able to interpret rules of law regarding security, emergency situations, knows rules of developing specific plans, instructions and procedures in regard of cultural heritage security.

Regarding the specific competences:

KNOWLEDGE

- Knows and understands legal provisions in the field of GLAM sector institutions and the protection of cultural goods.

- Has knowledge of the main directions of development and new achievements in the functioning of cultural heritage institutions.

SKILLS

- Has the ability to prepare written works and prepare a scenario for exhibitions and presentations using various sources from the area of GLAM institution activity and the ability to communicate with various audiences using specialized terminology.

OTHER COMPETENCES

- Has a sense of responsibility for the protection and preservation of cultural heritage, actively participates in cultural life, using the available opportunities.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Continuous assessment based on substantive preparation for classes and activity during classes.

The pass mark for the course is obtaining a sufficient number of attendance, activity and preparation of a final written work. Returning work within the prescribed period.

It is not possible to correct positive ratings.
