The course presents mediaeval architectural styles as well as techniques and materials used in wooden and masonry building crafts of the time. Moreover, methods of documentation of architectural relics discovered during archaeological excavations are discussed. |

The course addresses the following issues: 1. Outline of the Romanesque architecture in Poland - types of buildings - building techniques of the time - stylistic features and architectural detail 2. Outline of the Gothic architecture in Poland - types of buildings - building techniques of the time - stylistic features and architectural detail 3. Wooden architecture - construction site - review of techniques and structures 4. Masonry architecture - construction site - bricklaying techniques of the time - methods of laying foundations 5. Documentation of architectural research on archaeological sites |
