Short description:

The course is dedicated to presentation and analysis of chosen social and research fields related to sexuality and reproduction. Both issues are strongly ideologically engaged. Therefore they are subjects of culture wars and are frequently referred to by diverse political actors. During the course we will discus such topics as sexuality education and body positivity, sex work, sexual life of GSD people, changes in Polish sexology, sexual coaching. The course is based on the study of literature accompanied by workshops, during which the students will have occasion to meet invited social activists. Students are encouraged to contribute to course program.

The course is dedicated to presentation and analysis of chosen social and research fields related to sexuality and reproduction. Both issues are strongly ideologically engaged. Therefore they are subjects of culture wars and are frequently referred to by diverse political actors. During the course we will discus such topics as sexuality education and body positivity, sex work, sexual life of GSD people, changes in Polish sexology, sexual coaching. The course is based on the study of literature accompanied by workshops, during which the students will have occasion to meet invited social activists. Students are encouraged to contribute to course program.

Learning outcomes:

Having finished the course, a student will:

-have a basic working knowledge of the mutual dependence of culture and sexuality

-be able to point out ideological foundations of various notions of sexuality and sex research and their influence on the shaping of the public discourse

-be able to participate in public debates on the transformations of sexuality and the aspects of culture related to these phenomena.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Assessment will be based on attendance and participation during classes (engagement in discussions, co-organizing workshops), completion of several assignments on the Google Classroom platform, and a group project. Some classes with guest speakers may take place online (via Zoom).

The permissible number of absences is 2. Absence from 30% of the classes precludes their completion.

Students are allowed to utilize artificial intelligence resources in their assessment projects provided they specify the method and extent of their utilization.
