ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 4.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Continuation of basic, A1 the Polish language course up to the level A2

Full description:

This level is intended for students after 50-60 hours at the A1 level.

A course aimed at delivering to students language tools that enable their effective communication with Polish native speakers. During the lessons, the student acquires a basic communicative competence in Polish. The course allows you to understand and use the basic structures, vocabulary, and grammar of the Polish language in everyday situations (such as shopping, restaurant, tourist information, and personal information). The class activities revolve around the four core skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing.

The amount of time:

60 teaching hours in a classroom + 120 teaching hours of individual study

One teaching hour = 45 minutes

Lexicon and communication:

- greetings and farewells;

- personal presentation;

- asking about well-being;

- upholding and ending the conversation;

- expressing the disapproval;

- informing about aversions;

- describing people and objects;

- shopping (clothing, types of shops, services);

- expressing the amount;

- expressing the possession;

- primary time expressions;

- time of day;

- describing daily plan;

- telling about what happened in the past;

- expressing the cause;

- names of months;

- names of seasons of the year;

- weather;

- setting up a meeting;

- accepting and rejecting the offer;

- inviting;

- names of main places, buildings, and institutions in the city;

- asking about direction;

- means of transport;

- informing and asking about the hour;

- names of the furniture;

- describing interiors (e.g. my room, apartment);

- renting a flat;

- booking a room in the hotel

- names of body parts;

- informing about the health condition;

- visiting a doctor;

- Genitive case of nouns and adjectives in the plural;

- Conjugation: Present tense — 4 conjugations, modal verbs, motion

verbs;

- Conjugation: Past tense;

- Aspect of the verb – imperfective and perfective;

- Constructing questions

Learning outcomes:

Having completed the second semester of the A1 course students:

- understand and can use in written and spoken form colloquial expressions and simple phrases concerning everyday activities can formulate questions concerning places they live, people they know, and things they possess, as well as answering such questions.

- can participate in simple conversations providing that an interlocutor speaks slowly, clearly, and is ready to help.

- know and understand the basics of the grammatical system and simple vocabulary.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Constant evaluations: attendance and active participation in lesson, checking the home assignments after each lesson, two short written midterm tests, unseen written test at the end of the course.

In the classroom / stationary course:

- Final test at the end of the course – 40%

- Midterm tests / presentations – 20%

- Home assignments – 20%

- Active attendance at classes – 20%

To obtain a course credit at the end of the semester, a student must show achievements in each of the above categories and pass the final exam (a student who receives 0% in one category will not receive a pass).

Type of examination:

Based on the results of the work defined in the section "Assessment methods and criteria"

Remote course, if necessary:

Final test – 20%

Midterm tests / presentations – 20%

Homework and other assignments – 30%

Active attendance at classes – two unjustified absences per semester allowed – 30%

To obtain a course credit at the end of the semester, a student must show achievements in each of the above categories and pass the final exam (a student who receives 0% in one category, will not receive a pass).
