ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 5.00 OR 4.00 (differs over time) Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Pełny opis przedmiotu Information about the history of Latin and above all about the influence which Latin had on the syntaxy and vocabulary of the modern languages. Studying the Latin grammar and the vocabulary. Focusing on translating problems and the language correctness. Presenting the influence of the mythological topics and the ancient history on the literature. Learning Latin maxims used nowadays.

Learning outcomes:

After the course a student:

- translates on their own with a dictionary a simple Latin text

- describes the role and the influence of Latin on modern languages

- analyses the grammar and vocabulary problems

- uses the lernt Latin maxims

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

The final mark is given on the ground of the student’s preparation to classes and activity during them, tests written during the two semesters, a final written test. Attendance to classes is obligatory however absence from two classes during a semester is allowed. In the case of absence from more numbers of classes a student has to get credit for them during the office hours of their teacher (translate the two or three Latin texts)
