Practical Lithuanian course on B2+ level according to A Common European Framework of Reference standards. Classes prepare students with B1 competence in Lithuanian to mastering Lithuanian on B2+ level as a tool for communication in their everyday life and to communicate basic specialised content with correct grammar, syntax and lexicon, as well as with (inter)cultural competence mastered according to a given level and required in work concerning humanities or in further studies. Time estimated for acquiring learning outcomes: a) contact hours: 90h (3 ECTS); b) current preparation for classes: 60h (2 ECTS); c) preparation of papers and oral presentations: 60h (2 ECTS); d) preparation for the semester test and for the final exam 30h (1 ECTS). |

Learning outcomes: |
Upon course completion student: (KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES) - has basic knowledge on the structure of conteporary Lithuanian texts, according to A Common European Framework of Reference standards for B2+ level; - has linguistic competencema umiejętności językowe according to A Common European Framework of Reference standards for B2+ level; - develops and improves their linguistic abilities, including practical ones, such as: reading, writing according to grammatical and syntactic norms; understanding of spoken language, speaking; - can on his own translate simple specialist texts, mainly in humanities; - holds conversations in Lithuanian in everyday life context; - uses proper style, according to situation; - can write letters, hold presentations in Lithuanian in work environment. (SOCIAL COMPETENCE) - is aware of their own knowledge and knows the range of their abilities, understands the need of continuous education and professional development; - can cooperate in team, is open to new ideas and ready to accept available data and arguments as a basis for changing their mind; - effectively manages their own work and critically assesses its development; - prepares him/herself responsibly to their future work and is able to communicate with people from other cultures; is open to social dialogue. |
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
The student is obliged to regular attendance (2 absences per term by each lecturer are allowed) and to obtain term grades from each lecturer of the B2+ level (for the winter semester no later than until the end of the winter repeat examination session and for the summer semester before the date of the written final examination). Aspects of assessment: a) current preparation for classes and activity during classes; b) written and oral texts; c) written grammar test (at the close of the winter term); d) examination (written and oral in the summer term). The exam consists of two parts: written and oral. The written part evaluates students’ correct use of grammar forms, knowledge of vocabulary, both general and specialist, learned in class, as well as writing an argumentative or critical text based on knowledge acquired during the course (different text forms). The oral part evaluates understanding and critical interpretation of a journalistic text; free speaking on everyday life issues and simple specialist issues in humanities. |
