Prerequisites (description): | (in Polish) Zaliczony przedmiot "Wykład lub konwersatorium monograficzne 1". Zajęcia są opracowane z założeniem przygotowania studenta do końcowych wyników studiów bałtystycznych drugiego stopnia na ścieżce językoznawczej. Przedmiot będzie prowadzony jako konwersatorium. Oczekuje się dużego wkładu pracy własnej studenta na zadane tematy, naukowej dyskusji, umiejętności przedstawienia własnych poglądów. |

The subject as a theoretical course is designed to give the student the opportunity to deepen theoretical knowledge of lexicology, lexical-semantic issues, including lexicology. lexis and semantics of Lithuanian words. |
Full description: |
The aim of the course is to introduce the student to the scope of lexicological and lexical-semantic research taking into consideration the specificity of the Lithuanian language vocabulary both in synchronic terms and with respect to the processes of its formation. In this respect, the works of Lithuanian scholars concerning the historical strata of Lithuanian language vocabulary will be studied. Considerable attention will be paid to the specifics of borrowing processes, and the main issues of language contact will be discussed. The course lasts one semester and ends with a credit. The prerequisite for obtaining a credit is attendance, preparation for classes and active work in class. During the semester the student will be required to give a presentation/results of his/her own lexical-semantic study of a selected semantic group of words. Estimated number of hours needed to achieve the defined learning outcomes: (a) number of contact hours: 30 hrs. b) independent preparation for classes (including reading materials in a foreign language), consultations with a lecturer 120 hrs. |

Learning outcomes: |
On completion of the course the student: (KNOWLEDGE) - has an in-depth knowledge of the subject and methodological specificities of philology; - has a structured general knowledge including terminology in the field of lexicology; - skilfully uses terminology in Polish and Lithuanian; - has a structured knowledge of the lexical and semantic structure of the Lithuanian language; (SKILLS) -Knows how to use theoretical approaches and concepts appropriate to philology; - (SKILLS) -finds, analyses and selects, uses information from written and electronic sources; - has the ability to properly select arguments, uses the views of other authors, has the ability to formulate conclusions correctly; - organises own work effectively; (COMPETENCE) - accepts the need to observe ethical norms of scientific work; - is aware of the knowledge and skills he/she has acquired, understands the need for continuous learning. |
