Short description:

The course is aimed at broadening the participants' scope of linguistics, by studying theoretical issues and following descriptive research in topics outside of their main research.

Full description:

The course is aimed at broadening the participants' scope of linguistics, by studying theoretical issues and following descriptive research in topics outside of their main research.

Participants are expected to critically read set academic papers, mainly in English.

During class the papers are discussed and hitherto unstudied issues are explained.

Upon completion of the course the participants have acquired detailed and in-depth knowledge of linguistic topics outside their main research interests.

Skills

Upon completion of the course the participants have mastered critical reading and in-depth understanding of linguistic papers in English that fall outside the main scope of their research interests.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

The participants should hand in a new chapter or a section of their dissertation or an academic paper in linguistics.
