ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 2.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:

The B1 course develops the basic lexicon by introduction of 800 more signs. More information about the Deaf culture will be given. PJM texts presented by native signers, narrative and dialogue, will be analyzed.

Full description:

The aim of the B1 is to fix and improve capabilities acquired at the A1 and A2 level and to introduce more advance lexical material covering such areas as mathematics, geography, biology, history, sport, religion, social life etc. PJM narrative and dialogue text simultaneous interpreting exercises will also be provided.

The grammar module at the B1 level develops issues introduced at the previous levels. Particular emphasis is given to the use of classifiers, space and non-manual elements.

Learning outcomes:

The student is expected to communicate with the Deaf in everyday situations, as well as in school (e.g., help children make their homeworks). She/he will be able to work as an interpreter in such situations.

1. attendance: 5%

2. class activity: 10%

3. partial and final test: 85%
