Prerequisites (description):	(in Polish) Podstawowy zakres informacji na temat archeologii Ameryk i Oceanii, dla dwoch celow: - wiedzy o charakterze porownawczym, przeznaczonej dla studentow dla ktorych blok ten nie bedzie blokiem glownym (I). - wstepu do specjalizacji w zakresie archeologii tego obszaru, dla studentow wybierajacych blok jako pierwszy. Ci uczestnicy beda musieli wykazac sie znajomosci jednego z nastepujacych jezykow: angielskiego, hiszpanskiego, francuskiego, portugalskiego lub niemieckiego w zakresie umozliwiajacym lekture (i referowanie) publikacji naukowych - jest to warunek zaliczenia cwiczen. Pozadane bedzie, dla studentow pragnacych sie specjalizowac w archeologii obszarow ibero-jezycznych, rozpoczecie nauki jez, hiszpanskiego lub portugalskiego.

Short description:	Lecture for the 2nd year students (Professor Mariusz Ziółkowski; winter and summer semesters, 60 hours, Thursday, 1.00 p.m.-2.30 p.m., Sz.G., r. 1.09) The core lecture devoted to the problem of settling of the New World and to a synthetic account of chosen cultural and ecologic areas. The attempt to answer the question about the place of pre-Columbian cultures in a general scheme of civilization development will be made, as well as an essential issue of comparison between this development and the one we observe in the Old World will be approached. Did the New World develop independently? Or were there any contacts between the Old and the New World? How to explain such striking differences in the New World as lack of iron metallurgy, lack of use of wheel in transport, or (except for Andean region) very limited animal husbandry, and at the same time astounding technological achievements in irrigation or weaving?
