Short description:

The course focuses on European archaeology of both metal ages, from the Early Bronze Age to the Migration Period. Prime emphasis is placed on the most extensive cultural circles such as the urnfield cultures, foremost questions, e. g. Biskupin-type strongholds, the largest peoples (Scyths, Sarmatians, Celts and Germans) and their contacts with classical civilisations. The practical course will include laboratories dealing with archaeological source studies, the typology of historical monuments, the principles of their description, chronology, etc.

The course focuses on European archaeology of both metal ages, from the Early Bronze Age to the Migration Period. Prime emphasis is placed on the most extensive cultural circles such as the urnfield cultures, foremost questions, e. g. Biskupin-type strongholds, the largest peoples (Scyths, Sarmatians, Celts and Germans) and their contacts with classical civilisations. The practical course will include laboratories dealing with archaeological source studies, the typology of historical monuments, the principles of their description, chronology, etc.
