The leitmotif of the course will be the work of outstanding Polish artists, performers and composers who, during the partitions, operated in various European countries and promoted Polish art. The genres and ideological threads characteristic of Polish music, taken from Polish literature, philosophy, and social life, and representing the national topos, play an important role in their output. The works of Józef Kozłowski, Antoni and Apolinary Kątski, Henryk and Józef Wieniawski, Wiktor Każyński, Teodor Leszetycki, Emil Młynarski, Henryk Pachulski, Feliks Blumenfeld, Witold Maliszewski and others will be discussed and presented. These issues will be presented against the background of a broader panorama of musical creativity in the Romantic era. |
