ECTS credit allocation (and other scores):	2.50 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles: the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS; the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h; 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes; weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS; work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Prerequisites (description):	The history of film music (wih special reference to the rich Hollywood tradition – from silent movies to the 1990s, theory of film music, and selected case studies) and history of music videos (including theory and analysis of music videos).
Short description:	Music and image: between artwork (LP and CD covers) and moving image (music videos, film music).
Full description:	The history of film music (wih special reference to the rich Hollywood tradition – from silent movies to the 1990s); relations between classical and film music (language, techniques, mutual influences); profiles of major composers (e.g. M. Steiner, E. Korngold, F. Waxman, B. Kaper, M. Rozsa, E. Morricone, J. Goldsmith, J. Williams, Vangelis); elements of the aesthetics of film music (including the ideas of T.W. Adorno and Z. Lissa). Required readings and film music analysis (i.e. "Metropolis", "Citizen Kane", "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly", "East of Eden", "Star Wars", "Chariots of Fire", "Rain Man", "Atonement", "Nóż w wodzie", "Podwójne życie Weroniki"). The history of music videos and music films, with theoretical and analytical approach (Michael Gondry, Spike Jonze etc.)

Learning outcomes:	Having completed the course, student: - knows basics of film music history - is able to point main turning points in its development - is able to analyse films and music discussed durig classes - is able to use Zoffia Lissa's film music analysis tools - is able to recognize and name movie themes (along with composer's name) according to presented list of songs - is able to analyse music videos and knows basics of music films and videos history
