  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;

The aim of the classes is to deepen the knowledge of traditional rural music in Poland. This task is carried out in the course of discussing books and films devoted to traditional rural music in Poland and the analysis of selected musical examples.

Full description:

The aim of the classes is to deepen the knowledge of traditional rural music in Poland. This task is carried out in the course of discussing books and films devoted to traditional rural music in Poland and the analysis of selected musical examples. As far as reading is concerned, the emphasis is placed on both classic, the most outstanding problem articles by researchers of Polish musical folklore, as well as the latest works. In the field of musical analysis, original field recordings and CD publications are used. The set of discussed works and recordings is updated annually.

Bibliography:

The set of discussed works and recordings is updated annually. Most often, these are works published in "Muzyka", "Przegląd Muzykologiczny", "Polski Rocznik Muzykologiczny" and "Etnomuzykologia Polska", as well as fragments of book monographs.

Learning outcomes:

1. knows the basic terminology of musicology

2. has ordered detailed knowledge of selected fields of science and scientific methodology disciplines

3. has a basic knowledge of the links between musicology and other sciences

4. has a basic knowledge of the main directions of development and the most important new achievements in musicology

5. knows and understands the basic methods of analysis and interpretation of the products of musical culture appropriate for selected traditions, theories or research schools of musicology

6. is aware of the complex nature of the musical language as well as the complexity and historical variability of its meanings

7. can search, analyze, evaluate, select and use information with the use of various sources and methods

8. has basic research skills, including the formulation and analysis of research problems, the selection of research methods and tools, the development and presentation of results, allowing for solving research problems in musicology

9. can independently acquire knowledge and develop research skills following the guidance of a research tutor

10.can use the basic theoretical approaches, research paradigms and concepts specific to musicology in typical professional situations

11. is able to recognize various types of products of musical culture and carry out their critical analysis and interpretation using typical methods in order to determine their meanings, social impact, place in the socio-cultural process

12. has the ability to substantively argue, using the views of other authors, and formulate conclusions

13. has the ability to prepare typical written works in Polish, on specific issues, with the use of basic approaches

14. has the ability to prepare oral presentations in Polish on specific issues, using basic theoretical approaches and various sources

15. is able to interact and work in a group, taking various roles in it

16. is aware of the responsibility for preserving the cultural heritage of mankind
