ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 4.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:

The main subject of the course is to familiarize students with the ethnomusicologist's workshop in its various aspects: from scientific research (field documentation, archival research, work on collections of instruments, organization and development of collections) to animation of musical life (music criticism, educational and popularizing activities). In each subsequent year, the emphasis is placed on a different aspect.

An important element is learning about contemporary ethnomusicological literature and other scientific disciplines whose concepts and methods of work are used in ethnomusicological research selected in accordance with the main subject of interest in a given year and with the interests of the participants.

The main subject of the course is to familiarize students with the ethnomusicologist's workshop in its various aspects: from scientific research (field documentation, archival research, work on collections of instruments, organization and development of collections) to animation of musical life (music criticism, educational and popularizing activities). In each subsequent year, the emphasis is placed on a different aspect.

An important element is learning about contemporary ethnomusicological literature and other scientific disciplines whose concepts and methods of work are used in ethnomusicological research selected in accordance with the main subject of interest in a given year and with the interests of the participants.

However, each year, the literature is selected according to the topics dedicated to the classes in a given semester.

- is able to prepare their own ethnomusicological research project.
