Short description:	The aim of the course is to introduce students to research issues related to the profile of the Department of Theory and Aesthetics of Music, existing until the end of 2020, and the main fields of research undertaken by its staff.
Full description:	The aim of the course is to introduce students to research issues related to the profile of the Department of Theory and Aesthetics of Music, existing until the end of 2020, and the main currents of research undertaken by its employees (apart from theory and aesthetics, they include, among others, the history of music from the 19th to the 21st century with the multitude and variety of its problems and the methodology of musicological research).

Learning outcomes:	Course attendant: - has basic knowledge of the subject and methodological specificity of research issues undertaken in the former Department, - formulates and analyzes research problems related to the profile of classes.

Short description:	Winter term of our laboratory meetings will be filled with work inspired by the three books initiating a new book series Res Facta Nova Library by PWM Edition. The series aims at enriching Polish humanities with a discourse on music as well as allowing the Polish reader to acquaint oneself with authors and books contributing to so called new musicology or cultural musicology.
Full description:	In 2022 PWM Edition initiated a new book series Res Facta Nova Library. The successor of Res Facta Library published between 1969 and 1988 aims at publishing valuable and influential books about music transcending the borders of narrowly understood musicology or music theory, opening the music studies to join the widely understood humanities. The series accommodates both translations of already classical authors of the so called new musicology or critical musicology, as well as new books of Polish authors who contribute to this strand of scholarship. First books published in the series bring thinking about music closer to philosophy and art history. Our reading of selected fragments will be an inspiration to creating students own critical essays making use of methods and research strategies characterizing new musicology.

Short description:	(in Polish) W semestrze letnim spotkania pracowni poświęcimy pracy z książkami z obszaru filozofii i socjologii muzyki oraz nowej muzykologii nazywanej także muzykologią kulturową (Kania, Adorno, Kramer, Chęćka). W formule seminaryjnej studenci będą pracować nad indywidualnymi projektami. Zaplanowane są dwa wspólne wyjścia na koncerty do Filharmonii Narodowej. Studenci przygotują także referaty na temat wybranego artykułu dotyczącego intertekstualności muzyki.
