Prerequisites (description):

IKSI students who have declared their willingness to pursue an optional teaching specialty are targeted at psychological and pedagogical practices. It is assumed that an internship student knows the basics of psychology and pedagogy, with particular emphasis on the importance of both areas in the teacher's work. Internships are carried out after the first semester of the first year of undergraduate studies (in accordance with the guidelines contained in the MNISW Regulation of July 25, 2019).

Short description:

Psychological and pedagogical practices preparing for the teaching profession are carried out in accordance with the standards described in the MNSISW Regulation of July 25, 2019. and are observational. Internships include 30 hours of teaching (lesson) hospitalization. Internships are directed to kindergarten, primary school or general secondary school. Experiences gained during internships are discussed during psychology and pedagogy workshops.

Full description:

The purpose of the internship is to use the acquired knowledge and skills during independent implementation of assigned tasks, deepening psychological and pedagogical reflection in relation to educational and didactic situations at school, as well as improving the ability to document and evaluate one's own work. Internships include: learning the legal documents of the school where the internship is carried out: statute, educational and preventive program, cooperation program with parents, internal school grading system, competence of the pedagogical council, other regulations in force at the school; acquiring the ability to conduct and use school documentation: plan, program, material distribution, lesson diary, student achievement sheets; learning the duties of a class teacher; learning the rules of teacher's work evaluation resulting from the pedagogical supervision plan; assessment of the style of directing and communicating with the class of teacher-educator and the difficulties he declares in his professional work based on the observations of his lessons as well as the conducted survey and interview; critical event analysis; independent design of the class scenario; preparing a case study of a student with special educational needs of the student; self-assessment of acquired knowledge and skills in accordance with the self-evaluation sheet. The experience gained during the internships will be discussed during the exercises in Pedagogy and Psychology as well as during Psychological and Pedagogical Workshops.

Bibliography:

Knowledge of literature required during the course in psychology and pedagogy is required. Additional literature is agreed (optional) with the tutor of internships individually, in accordance with the student's needs.

In terms of knowledge, the student knows and understands:

B.3.W1. tasks specific to the school or educational system and the environment in which they operate;

B.3.W2. organization, statute and school work plan, educational and preventive program, and vocational counseling program;

B.3.W3. rules to ensure the safety of students at school and outside.

In terms of skills, the student can:

B.3.U1. draw conclusions from observing the work of the class teacher, his interaction with students and the way he plans and conducts educational classes;

B.3. U2. draw conclusions from the observation of how to integrate care, education and teaching activities by subject teachers;

B.3. U3. draw conclusions, if possible, from direct observation of the work of the teaching council and the class teacher team;

B.3. U4. draw conclusions from direct observation of extra-curricular educational and care activities of teachers, including on-call times, during inter-lesson breaks and organized outings of student groups;

B.3. U5. plan and carry out educational classes under the supervision of a tutor;

B.3. U6. analyze, with the help of a tutor and academic teachers conducting classes in psychological and pedagogical preparation, pedagogical situations and events observed or experienced during the internship;

In terms of social competence, the student is ready to:

B.3. K1. effective cooperation with the internship supervisor and teachers in order to broaden their knowledge.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

The student is obliged to report to the Internship Coordinator at IKSI (Dr. A. Sztuk) before starting the internship in order to receive a referral for internships and to agree on the details of the internship implementation.

After completing the apprenticeship, the student is required to provide the IKSI Apprenticeship Coordinator with documentation confirming the apprenticeship: a 30-hour psychological and pedagogical (observation) apprenticeship certificate (template available for download from the IKSI website). The certificate must be stamped with the school's seal and must contain a legible signature of the internship supervisor and a representative of the School (Director / Deputy Director). In addition, the student is required to provide a psychological and pedagogical practice evaluation sheet signed by the tutor (template to be downloaded from the IKSI website). The evaluation sheet should be provided in two identical copies.
