  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:

The aim of this class is getting students acquainted with Descriptive Grammar: its topics and directions.

The course familiarizes students with features of grammar system: parts of speech and word groups created by them.

Full description:

The course familiarizes students with basic notions in descriptive grammar of French language (with strong emphasis on functional, syntax

and morphological approach). Main part of the course is the review of basic features of French language grammar system, including: (i)

main parts of speech and word croups connected with them; (ii) basic sentence patterns; (iii) discursive functions of basic types of main

sentences; (iv) grammatical, semantic and pragmatical aspects associated with main sentence and clauses; (v) grammatical aims used for

distribution of information within and outside of a sentence. The subject of the course's first part covers GN, GV topics, as well as

introduction to descriptive apparatus of the sentence.

Learning outcomes:

At the end of the semester, the student will:

- know how to distinguish basic parts of sentences in statements;

- understand what are the possibilities of building and enhancing GN;

- understand the rules of rewriting sentence structures.
