ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 6.00 Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Prerequisites (description):

The course is dedicated to third year students of the first cycle studies who intend to prepare their Bachelor's Degree Thesis in Swedish within linguistics or translatology. Students have to know a foreign language at an advanced B2 level.

Short description:

The course aims at developing students’ knowledge and skills with regard to the research methodology in the linguistic and translatology field. The seminar will also introduce students to the process of writing BA papers in Swedish.

Full description:

The course aims to introduce students to a variety of research methods commonly used in the field of linguistics and translatology. This will be done by both studying the theory underlying specific methods or approaches to data collection and analysis as well as by looking at how each method or approach has been applied in a variety of research situations. Through reading and studying a broad range of research papers, students will be better equipped to understand research in the field, in general, as well as how to set up and carry out their own studies for their BA research.

During the course, given linguistics and translatological issues are discussed and characteristics of academic language and formal register. The participants are also expected to prepare one presentation of their BA projects.

Credit requirements include: regular attendance, active participation in classes, fulfilling background reading assignments, timely submission of the first parts of the BA paper (in the winter term: an outline and one chapter of the BA thesis), preparing one oral presentation in the winter term.

Total ECTS points = 6 ECTS

- In-class activities: 30h = 1 ECTS

Self-study: 120h = 5 ECTS

- Classroom activities and preparation for tasks = 30h

- presentation: 20h

- exercises in writing academic texts in Swedish: 20h

- reading scientific texts in a foreign language: 20h

- work on the BA thesis: 30h

Wiedza

Student zna i rozumie

• specyfikę współczesnych paradygmatów językoznawstwa (ogólnego oraz stosowanego), ma uporządkowaną wiedzę ogólną w zakresie teorii i metodologii z zakresu językoznawstwa oraz literaturoznawstwa [K1_W05]

• powiązania językoznawstwa stosowanego oraz literaturoznawstwa z innymi dziedzinami nauki i dyscyplinami naukowymi [K1_W06]

• ma wiedzę na temat projektowania ścieżki własnego rozwoju i awansu zawodowego [K1_W14]

Umiejętności

Student

• posiada elementarne umiejętności badawcze, potrafi formułować problemy badawcze oraz potrafi używać narzędzi badawczych językoznawstwa stosowanego (w zakresie subdziedzin językoznawstwa odpowiednio do wybranego modułu) i literaturoznawstwa; potrafi odpowiednio dobrać metody pozwalające na rozwiązywanie problemów w obrębie wybranej dziedziny [K1_U02]

• posiada umiejętność argumentowania z wykorzystaniem poglądów innych autorów oraz samodzielnego formułowania wniosków w formie ustnej i pisemnej w języku polskim oraz w dwóch studiowanych językach obcych [K1_U04]

• potrafi porozumiewać się w dwóch studiowanych językach obcych w typowych sytuacjach profesjonalnych wymagających znajomości technik, strategii i różnych kanałów komunikacyjnych oraz umie przeciwdziałać konfliktom, wykorzystując język jako narzędzie komunikacji [K1_U05]

• potrafi odpowiednio zastosować wiedzę teoretyczną z zakresu studiowanych dziedzin (językoznawstwa stosowanego i literaturoznawstwa) w typowych sytuacjach profesjonalnych, w tym w projektach zespołowych, również w projektach o charakterze interdyscyplinarnym [K1_U10]

• potrafi samodzielnie zdobywać wiedzę z zakresu językoznawstwa stosowanego oraz literaturoznawstwa, kierując się wskazówkami opiekuna naukowego; umie ocenić przydatność poznanych metod, praktyk i procedur do własnej działalności zawodowej [K1_U11]

• potrafi określić priorytety i zaplanować działania służące ich realizacji, rozumiejąc potrzebę samokształcenia i ustawicznego podnoszenia kwalifikacji, w tym praktycznych kompetencji językowych [K1_U12]

• krytycznej oceny własnego stanu wiedzy w zakresie językoznawstwa stosowanego oraz literaturoznawstwa, docenia znaczenie argumentacji merytorycznej w rozwiązywaniu problemów badawczych oraz praktycznych (w sytuacjach zawodowych) [K1_K02]
