Seminar classes leading to the creation of a bachelor's thesis. Their aim is to present the requirements for the construction and editing of a scientific text and to develop the ability to use this scientific text in a foreign language. Seminars are held in the field of general linguistics and applied linguistics (especially translation studies or glottodidactics). |
Full description: |
The aim of the seminar is to familiarize students with the research methodology appropriate for the selected area of scientific interest. Students become familiar with theoretical works that form the basis of methods and approaches to data analysis. An active attitude of students is necessary, they should work systematically and independently outside classes, searching for scientific texts, reading them and conducting a synthetic review of them in the bachelor's thesis. The emphasis is on ensuring that course participants apply in practice their knowledge of learned theories, methods of conducting research and the principles of writing a scientific paper. Students also conduct their own research, which is the basis for preparing the analytical part of the thesis. Student workload: - classes (contact hours): 30h - preparation for classes: 30 hours - own work (conducting research and preparing a bachelor's thesis): 300h total: 360h (12 ECTS) |

K1_W05, K1_W06, K1_W14, K1_U02, K1_U04, K1_U05, K1_U10, K1_U11, K1_U12, K1_K02 Having completed the course: Knowledge a student knows and understands: the specificity of contemporary paradigms of linguistics (general and applied); a student has a structured general knowledge of the theory and methodology of linguistics and literary studies [K1_W05] the relations between applied linguistics, literary studies and other disciplines and fields of science [K1_W06] how to design their career path and professional advancement [K1_W14] Skills a student: will gain elementary research skills, will be able to formulate research problems and will be able to use the research tools of applied linguistics (within the scope of linguistics sub-disciplines corresponding to the chosen module) and literary studies; is able to select appropriate methods for solving problems in the selected field [K1_U02] will acquire the ability to argue with the views of other authors and to formulate conclusions independently, orally and in writing, in Polish and in two foreign languages that they he/she has studied [K1_U04] is able to communicate in two foreign languages in typical professional situations requiring the knowledge of communication techniques, strategies and various communication channels, and is able to prevent conflicts using language as a communication tool [K1_U05] is able to apply theoretical knowledge from the fields of study (applied linguistics and literary studies) appropriately in typical professional situations, including teamwork, also in interdisciplinary projects [K1_U10] is able to independently acquire knowledge of applied linguistics and literary studies, following the guidelines of the tutor; is able to assess the usefulness of the acquired methods, practices and procedures for his/her own professional activity [K1_U11] is able to set priorities and plan activities for their implementation, understanding the need for self- education and continuous improvement of competences, including practical language skills [K1_U12] Social competences a student is ready to: critically assess his/her own knowledge in the field of applied linguistics and literary studies, appreciates the importance of substantive argumentation in solving research problems and practical problems (in professional situations) [K1_K02] |
