Short description: |
The aim of the course is to provide students with knowledge of issues relating to legal translation from a chosen foreign language into Polish, and reversely. The students are involved in activities leading to obtain knowledge of principles of certified translation resulting from the Polish “Code of Sworn Translator.” |

The issues discussed include, but are not limited to: 1. Sources of knowledge of a sworn translator 2. Pleadings and official letters 3. Layout of a translated text 4. Translator’s notes and comments in a target text 5. Proper names 6. Errors in a source text 7. Certification of a document 8. Professional responsibility of a sworn translator 9. Register of a sworn translator The documents presented and analyzed as both classroom and homework assignments illustrate the above issues as well as the way they are applied according to the principles provided for by the Polish “Code of Sworn Translator” and by the Act of 25 November 2004 on the Profession of Sworn Translator |

Carry out lexical and pragmatic analysis of legal texts 2. Translate legal texts in compliance with the principles provided for by the Polish “Code of Sworn Translator” and by the Act of 25 November 2004 on the Profession of Sworn Translator ATTITUDES 1. Correctly assess manifestations of the translator’s creativeness 2. Understand the meaning of principles of professional ethics of sworn translator |
