  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;

Prerequisites (description):

Interest in literary issues.

Short description:

Systematization of the knowledge and skills in the field of genology, allowing the analysis and interpretation of literary works (on the material of Russian literature). The main aim of the seminar is to prepare the students to write a bachelor’s work.

Full description:

Specific issues:

1. Literature science methods and techniques. Bibliographic standards. Techniques of a literature specialist.

2. Stages of research working. Research questions, propositions or hypotheses, definition of research risks.

3. Choice of the professional ethics issues.

4. Title. Abstract. Keyword.

5. Genology – basic theoretical issues. Terminology. Extent and division. Circle of researchers. Research perspectives.

6. Epic poetry. Poetics and theory.

7. Lyric. Poetics and theory.

− The student has the advanced research skills in the area of analyzing and interpreting of the literary works.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Continuous assessment.

Evaluation of the text (40%) and the bibliography

30 h (1 ECTS) - seminar

150 h (7 ECTS) – student’s own work:

20% - library query

30% - analysis of the material

50% - writing the thesis (40% of the text, bibliography)

The student has the right to 2 unexcused absences, each subsequent one requires justification. The lecturer decides on the recognition of absence.

Exceeding excused and unexcused absences by 50% of classes may be grounds to fail the course. The conditions for passing the course on the resit exam are the same as on the ordinary of exam.

If it is not possible to conduct classroom classes, classes will be conducted using distance communication tools, most likely Google Classroom and others recommended by the University of Warsaw.
