Short description:	The master seminar is devoted to the scientific-research work on the description and creation of the translational dictionaries. For that learning of the theoretical base in translational science, as well as main terms of the lexicographic theory is needed. Students conduct the practical lexicographic research of the dictionary entries of various types of the translational dictionaries.
Full description:	Master seminar assumes learning of the general issues of the lexicographic theory and the practical learning of the translational dictionaries of the Russian and several other languages. The next topics of the term projects and papers as well as of the examinations are suggested: 1. Public relevance of dictionaries 2. General classification of dictionaries 3. Macrostructure of the dictionary 4. Microstructure of the dictionary 5. Typology of the linguistical dictionaries 6. Types and kinds of the translational dictionaries 7. Phraseological translational dictionaries 8. Translational dictionaries of collocations 9. Linguistics and regional studies dictionaries as a type of translational lexicography 10. Principles of creation of the modern translational dictionaries 11. Translational theory and lexicography 12. Equivalence of the lexical units 13. Non-equivalent units, lacunas, realities in translational dictionaries 14. Proper names in translational dictionaries 15. Main translational dictionaries of the Russian language 16. Translational dictionaries of the Polish language 17. Translational dictionaries of Slavic languages 18. Translational dictionaries of the English language 19. Learning outcomes:	As a result of studying the discipline "TRANSLATIONAL AND TERMINOLOGICAL LEXICOGRAPHY" students should KNOW: • basics of the method of lexicographical research; • traditional and modern trends of translational lexicography; • peculiarities of making entries of various types; SKILLS: • use the principles and methods of lexicographical analysis in various translational research. SOCIAL COMPETENCES: - student understands and adheres to the principles of intellectual property rights’ protections; - student understands the necessity of permanent studies.
Assessment methods and assessment criteria:	The study of discipline "TERMINOLOGICAL AND TRANSLATIONAL LEXICOGRAPHY I" includes: - Intermediate control in the form of practical lexicographical study vocabulary of Russian and Polish languages, - Writing and defense of the essay (written course work) for one of the proposed topics; - Pass the final oral examination. The student has the right to 2 unexcused absences, each subsequent one requires justification. The lecturer decides on the recognition of absence. Exceeding excused and unexcused absences by 50% of classes may be grounds to fail the course. The conditions for passing the course on the resit exam are the same as on the ordinary of exam. If it is not possible to conduct classroom classes, classes will be conducted using distance communication tools, most likely Google Classroom and others recommended by the University of Warsaw.
