Full description:

Classes are a continuation of Practical Belarusian at advanced level on the basis of lexical and grammatical analysis of written and spoken texts, including professional texts, which contain vocabulary for specific purposes.

Work on the text is to familiarize students with specific ways of constructing complex expression in Belarusian language of an official character, increase their lexical resources and provide them with knowledge of advanced language problems, including using constructions type aabvinavaczvać u czym?, uzbudzić sudovy praces, vyniesci prysud u administracyjnym paradku, prysudzić da 5 hadou zniavolennia, zmahacca z sarhanizavanaj złaczynnasciu, vieryć u Boha, malicca (kamu?) Bohu, malicca (na szto?) na kryż. Attention will also be paid on interlingual homonyms in the field of law and economy lexis and related issues of translation. On the basis of lexical material contained in analyzed texts, students perform a series of exercises (including spoken and written) and prepare their own detailed problematic statements. Supplement the necessary to exercise knowledge is learning grammar and spelling, such as spelling abbreviation of economy and finances, verb tenses, spelling capital and lower case letters in the names of feasts and religious rites, active and passive constructions, creating adjectives from geographical names and vocative forms.

The main material for the classes are different types of documents and analysis of an official and professional character (including the texts of laws and regulations, trade agreements, etc.) and extensive problem texts of rituals and geography of Belarus. Students learn the lexicon associated in particular with the legal system and judicial authorities (including courts of different instances and criminal code), appeal procedures, complaints, international law and the uniformed services (police / militia), the national economy, major industries, agricultural sector, the law construction, international trade, banking system, system of religious, religion and rituals in Poland and in Belarus (including major religious and folk festivals), geography (including the shaping of space, geographical regions, the specificity of individual countries and continents). Through numerous discussions in the classroom (for example on issues such as religious tolerance, international relations, criminal and judicial system in Poland and Belarus) is shaped in the students the ability to argue and contrargue, communicate complex issues and proposals in Belarusian language. Students prepare individual essays (written and oral - in the form of papers) in Belarusian language about the issues related to discussed problems and ideas included in the essays they present for general discussion.
