The main goal of the course is to familiarize students with the most important processes of nineteenth century literature and to connect with the formation of Ukrainian national identity. |
Full description: |
During the course, Ukrainian literature will be discussed in the context of the formation of the idea of a modern Ukrainian nation and the formation of national identity. Particular attention will be devoted to the romantic understanding of history, historiosophy and revolution. We will analyze categories of people and references to nature present in Ukrainian literature. Finally, elements of tyrheism, the idea of messianism and calling for Slavic reciprocity will be discussed. Student workload 30 hours in the room - 1 ECTS 45 hours preparation for classes - 1.5 ECTS 15 hours preparation to pass - 0.5 ECTS If it is not possible to conduct classes in a stationary form, classes will take place using distance communication tools, most likely Google Meet and others recommended by the University of Warsaw. |

Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
The condition of passing the course and admission to the final pass is: • systematic preparation of given material for classes - continuous assessment, shaping 50% • conducting and writing an individual research project 50% The course ends with a written exam according to the following criteria presented in the form of percentage thresholds 60% - 68% - 3 (satisfactory) 69% - 77% - 3+ (satisfactory plus) 78% - 86% - 4 (good) 87% - 93% - 4+ (good plus) 94% - 97% - 5 (very good) 98% -100% - 5! (very good with an exclamation mark) Assessment Criteria: - achieving the assumed learning outcomes covering all relevant aspects - 5.0 (very good) - achieving the assumed learning outcomes covering all relevant aspects with a small number of errors or inaccuracies - 4.5 (good plus) - achieving the intended learning outcomes without some (less significant) aspects - 4.0 (good) - achieving the assumed learning outcomes without some important ones aspects and with material inaccuracies - 3.5 (satisfactory plus) - achieving the intended learning outcomes bypassing relevant aspects or with serious inaccuracies - 3.0 (satisfactory, plus) - no achievement of the intended learning outcomes - 2.0 (unsatisfactory) The student has the right to three unexcused absences, each subsequent one requires submission of justification. Classes during which the student was absent can be lecturers on call. Exceeding the absence of excused and unexcused absences for 50% of classes may be the basis for failing the subject. The student has the right to take the exam in the retake session in the same form as in the basic session and on condition of obtaining credit for the subject. |
