Short description:

The course introduces the difficulites of the modern Ukrainian language used in tourism, with particular emphasis on terminology.

It trains and develops linguistic proficiency in understanding, producing and translating texts in the field of tourism.

Full description:

The purpose of the course is to provide students with the basics of specialized knowledge and Polish and Ukrainian terminology necessary for efficient functioning in the tourism and hospitality industry.

The course familiarizes students with the key lexical and terminological, syntactic and stylistic issues of the Ukrainian language in the field of tourism and hospitality. The purpose of the course is to impart knowledge and develop in students the ability to create and understand statements in situations typical of the tourism and hospitality industry, both in terms of the use of services and customer service. The subject also introduces the practice of translating specialized texts related to tourism and hospitality in the broadest sense.

15 hours - contact hours in the classroom

15 hours - independent work

- zna i rozumie historię i kontekst kulturowy Ukrainy (K1_W08)

- zna i rozumie język ukraiński w mowie i piśmie zgodnie z wymaganiami określonymi dla poziomu B1+ Europejskiego Systemu Opisu Kształcenia Językowego (K1_W09)

- potrafi wyszukiwać, krytycznie analizować i oceniać, selekcjonować i użytkować informacje dotyczące języka ukraińskiego (K1_U01)

- potrafi komunikować się w mowie i w piśmie w języku ukraińskim zgodnie z wymaganiami określonymi dla poziomu B1+ Europejskiego Systemu Opisu Kształcenia Językowego (K1_U09)

- potrafi planować i organizować pracę indywidualną oraz w zespole (K1_U12)

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

On completion of the course the student:

- knows and understands the history and cultural context of Ukraine (K1_W08)

- knows and understands the Ukrainian language both orally and in writing in accordance with the requirements specified for level B1+ of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (K1_W09)

- is able to search, critically analyze and evaluate, select and use information concerning the Ukrainian language (K1_U01)

- is able to communicate orally and in writing in Ukrainian in accordance with the requirements specified for level B1+ of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (K1_U09)

- is able to plan and organize individual and team work (K1_U12)
