Contemporary discourses in Ukrainian literature

The student has the ability to analyze and interpret a literary text, knows works included in the canon of Old Russian and 19th century literature, knows and understands the historical context necessary for the interpretation of texts and the literary process.

Classroom

During the classes, students learn about the issues related to the concept of discourse and the presence of contemporary discourses in Ukrainian literature.

Students broaden their knowledge of contemporary Ukrainian literature, including Chernobyl and feminist discourse, city, power, conflict, Maidan and war, and post-colonial research. They learn about issues related to the concept of discourse and the specificity of each of these discourses. Examples of specific works and works of a theoretical nature created since the beginning of the 1990s, i.e. from the time when political changes allowed artists to express themselves freely, analyze the trends in the development of the contemporary literary process in Ukraine.

After completing the course, the Student:

- knows and understands at an advanced level the terminology and methodology of literary studies of the 20th-21st centuries. K1_W02,

- knows and understands at an advanced level the history and contexts of Ukrainian literature of the 20th-21st centuries. K1_W07,

- is able to use theoretical approaches appropriate to literature

Ukrainian XX-XXI century K1_U04,

- is able to formulate and solve a research task in the field of Ukrainian literary studies K1_U06,

- is able to independently plan and implement his own lifelong learning

life K1_U11,

- is ready to critically evaluate his knowledge and received content K1_K01.

Conditions for admission to pass the course:

- attendance

- systematic preparation of the assigned material for classes

The student has the right to 2 unexcused absences, each subsequent one requires a justification. The lecturer decides whether to acknowledge the absence. The form of crediting the classes in which the student was absent is determined by the lecturer. Exceeding justified and unjustified absences for 50% of classes may be the basis for failing the course.

Completion of the subject - the exam is in the form of a written test (5 closed questions and 5 open questions). The evaluation criteria are presented in the form of percentage thresholds:

60% - 68% - 3 (satisfactory)

69% - 77% - 3+ (satisfactory plus)

78% - 86% - 4 (good)

87% - 95% - 4+ (good plus)

96% - 98% - 5 (very good)

99% -100% - 5! (Very good rating with an exclamation mark)

The conditions for the re-sit exam are the same as for the credit test for the main term.
