Short description:

Classes in learning Ukrainian at the basic level during tje first academic year, introducing concepts and terminology in the field of social communication. The aim of classes is to introduce language competences of mass-media language.

Full description:

The course is intended for students of the 1st year of undergraduate studies who has begun to learn Ukrainian. The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the principles of communication in various situations, other than daily contacts, as well as to familiarize them with the main substyles of the language used in them. Particular attention is paid to the language of mass-media, as well as the language of social media,.

An important element of the course is the analysis of various materials and the independent creation of short texts of various types.

Student workload

contact hours in the room – 30 hours

preparation for classes, including the preparation of a presentation – approx. 15 hours

Preparation for the credit – approx. 15 hours

Total approx .: 60 hrs (2 ECTS)

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Conditions for passing the subject:

- continuous assessment, or active participation in classes

- systematic preparation for classes of the given material and written test at the end of the term.

Final mark contains 30% of work and 70% final test.

Criteria for the assessment:

60% - 68% - 3 (satisfactory)

69% - 77% - 3+ (rated satisfactory plus)

78% - 86% - 4 (good)

86% - 91% - 4+ (good plus)

92% - 97% - 5 (very good)

98% -100% - 5! (very good with an exclamation mark)

The student has the right to be absent 2 times, with each absence above that limit requiring justification.

The ratio of absence to presence should not be greater than 50%. When having failed to comply with this regulation, a student may be asked to take the examination in the following year when the requirement has been met.
